Emily is a busy married mom of three young girls, holding down a challenging career as a middle school teacher. In April of 2021, Emily was diagnosed with stage 1B breast cancer.

Emily’s diagnosis and treatment
I was initially told there was a good chance I wouldn’t have to do chemo, so I thought I was in the clear. However, after more tests and taking my age into consideration, I was told I needed 4 rounds of TC.
I must admit, I freaked out! I could handle being sick, but I didn’t want to lose my hair, which would cause my little girls to worry there was something wrong with mom.

Emily’s experience with Cold Capping
My center did not offer capping machines, but a wonderful nurse told me about manual capping. She gave me the names of a few companies, including Penguin.
After doing a little research, it was clear that Penguin had amazing reviews and the best capping results, so I went all in.
I hired a capper for all of my four sessions so my husband could focus on taking care of our girls. My capper was a lifesaver; I truly could not have done it without her.
The caps were freezing cold. It was a challenge to wear them all day, especially because the medicine made me sick. But in the end, it was completely worth it.
Emily’s results
I did shed a lot, but I never lost big clumps. Overall, I probably lost about 30-40% – but my hair just looks a bit thinner than normal because the hair loss was so even. It’s already growing back quickly, and it feels very healthy because I’ve been following the penguin hair care guidelines.
